Southeast Dirt
Track News
By
Jim Stump
The Southeast region wrapped up the
2003 dirt track season with November weather in the 60’s at Aonia Pass in
Georgia. The clay short track and TT
were awesome. We had a big turn out and
some great racing. Lots of new AHRMA
members.
A special thanks to all those who
worked hard to make this season a success.
Beno Rodi, Charles Goman, David Barr, Lou Snedden, Doug Kadrovach, James
Hiter, Shorty Barr, Terry Dishroom and Blake Ross. From setting up the races, running the programs, scoring,
flagging, etc. Without the time these
people contribute, none of this would be possible.
A note to all of you vintage
enthusiasts and motocrossers who haven’t tried vintage dirt track, you are
missing out on some huge fun! Be sure
to ask Andy Blackburn if he had any fun riding Beno’s hot rod 600 at
Aonia. Way to go Andy! For most of you, all you need is a spare set
of wheels, or come try the knobby class.
Hats off to Shorty Barr and Blake Ross, two of our plus seventy riders
who are spending lots of time helping and also still turning some pretty fast
laps.
There is a buzz going around the
southeast region that a certain “On Any Sunday” star has moved to Atlanta and may be mounted on a Bultaco next
spring. Ponder that while you are
rebuilding your vintage bikes this winter.
The Southeast Dirt Track awards banquet will be held at
the Chateau Elan Inn on January 24 at 1:00pm.
Please call Beno Rodi (770) 867-1676 for details.
We are looking forward to a great season on 2004 with lots of new riders and full starting lines. Remember, if you’re not sliding, you’re not riding!
